As part of First Internet Bank’s effort to increase diversity and foster a sense of inclusion among our employees, we introduced mandatory DEI training during the reporting period for executive leadership and all employees. The phased training program — including topics such as unconscious bias, sexual harassment, regulatory issues and the benefits of a more diverse workplace — is delivered both in-person and online. Ongoing quarterly sessions and annual refresher courses will help reinforce the program’s methods and maintain active awareness.
We are committed to providing a workplace free of harassment because of an employee’s race, color, national origin, religion, sex, age, disability, citizenship status, sexual orientation, gender identity, genetic information, military status, pregnancy, childbirth, and related medical conditions or any other characteristic protected by law. Discrimination, harassment and inappropriate behavior are specifically prohibited and against our stated policies. Management is responsible for taking action against acts of discrimination, harassment and inappropriate behavior, regardless of whether the specific acts were sanctioned or specifically forbidden and regardless of the manner in which we become aware of the conduct. Our Whistleblower Policy provides protections for and allows anyone to anonymously report harassment and any other violation of our policies.
We attribute our lower-than-industry-average turnover to a focus on our employees and our distinct workplace culture. We believe that our success is driven, in part, by four core competencies: focus, initiative, teamwork and adaptability.
Best Banks to Work For: We were recognized as one of the “Best Banks to Work For in 2021” in a nationwide ranking by American Banker and Best Companies Group. We have earned the distinction of being one of the best every year since the program began in 2013.
Top Workplaces in Indianapolis: For the ninth consecutive year, we were honored as one of the “Top Workplaces in Central Indiana”, and we placed seventh among midsized companies.
